LIDOVĚK 2.0

Musician, composer, and actor Matěj Metoděj Štrunc is releasing his new album LIDOVĚK 2.0, a follow-up to the successful project LIDOVĚK. The album brings darker and more energetic arrangements of traditional Czech and Moravian folk songs, blending electronic elements and beats with cimbalom, violins, and other acoustic instruments.

A number of outstanding artists took part in the new album, including folk legend Hana Ulrychová, singer and actress Jitka Čvančarová, Academy Award winner Markéta Irglová, singer Žofie Kabelková, the folklore choir LADA, as well as musicians Petr Ptáček, Michal Grombiřík, and others. The album thus combines the authentic power of folklore with a contemporary sound, presenting an original fusion of tradition and modern music production.

LIDOVĚK 2.0 follows the first album, which, among other achievements, received recognition at the international International Acoustic Music Awards. Thematically, the recording moves between two main lines—love and war. Matěj Metoděj Štrunc transforms traditional songs into a form that is accessible and appealing to today's listeners, without losing their authenticity.

Eufrat

Eufrat is the latest single and music video from actor and musician Matěj M. Štrunc. This time, he decided to join forces with electronic music producer DAØN, and together they created a track with a very modern sound, enriched with elements of drum and bass.

"I wrote Eufrat after watching a lecture by Markéta Kutilová about the war in Syria. I was deeply affected by the fact that such injustice and evil are happening somewhere. This song is dedicated to all the children who have to cope with the loss of their loved ones due to a war that suddenly appeared at the door of their home. I hope that someone will be there to embrace them during the difficult moments they have to face."

Cuts&Lines

"Cuts&Lines" is a second solo album (EP) of Czech actor and composer Matěj Metoděj Štrunc, published by Indies Scope Records in 2023. In comparison to his debut album "Lidověk" where Matěj breathes new life into Czech folk songs, "Cuts&Lines" is solely an instrumental album. The only exception is the last track, "Sonnet 66" by William Shakespeare, interpreted by British actor and singer Jake Cecil.

Matěj Metoděj Štrunc is sought-after music composer who specializes in theatrical music. The album "Cuts&Lines is a great example of his work which combines different music styles and forms. The sound of classic orchestral music is seamlessly integrated with electronic music, as well as drums and ambient sounds. Štrunc intends to highlight the atmosphere of the individual tracks.

LIDOVĚK

The recording LIDOVĚK is the first solo album by actor and musician Matěj Metoděj Štrunc. Accompanied by the cimbalom, violin, and other acoustic instruments, Matěj blends folk songs with synthesizers, drums, electronics, and a modern sound. Traditional songs, overseen in the producer's role by popular singer Thom Artway, are reflected in a new form and with a fresh twist on the album Lidověk.
